Learn from 20 Years of Research and Insights Catalyzed by a Scientific Dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Twenty years ago, the Mind & Life Institute held the seminal Destructive Emotions dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, exploring how we can overcome our negative emotions and cultivate our best human qualities. That gathering proved to be a catalyst for a revolution in the western conception of emotions, and helped springboard the scientific study of compassion. Now, through the Science & Wisdom of Emotions Summit, many of the visionary scientists from the original dialogue—along with His Holiness the Dalai Lama—are gathering with a new generation of inspiring thinkers to discuss the latest scientific insights, share practices for cultivating emotional well-being and emotional intelligence, and explore how developing our emotional wisdom can contribute to our collective flourishing.
A 4-Day Guided Exploration of the Powerful Forces that Shape Our Lives
Over the course of this 4-Day Summit you will learn:
The latest scientific insights and contemplative perspectives on the nature of emotions, stress, and human connection.
Powerful practices to transform difficult emotions and cultivate our natural wisdom, compassion, and joy.
How to harness the power of our emotions to participate in the creation of a more interconnected and compassionate world.

Science & Wisdom of Emotions Summit
Produced by
At the Mind & Life Institute, we bring science and contemplative wisdom together to better understand the mind and create positive change in the world. Our grantmaking, convenings, and digital education programs fall into three main focus areas: nurturing personal well-being, building compassionate communities, and strengthening the human-earth connection. Ultimately, we seek to spark a global transformation toward a society where we embrace our shared humanity.
The Awake Network Foundation 501(c)(3) brings transformative contemplative practices and education to key acupuncture points in society. By making highly curated educational resources widely available to educators, healthcare workers, mental health professionals, and the general public; and through collaborating with resonant nonprofits, educational institutions, businesses, and other organizations; we aspire to help create the causes and conditions for a more compassionate society to bloom.
Tibetan Community Partners
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to support the preservation of Tibetan culture. This offering is made in recognition of the far-reaching contributions of the Tibetan community to this field of research and our efforts to nurture personal well-being and more compassionate communities worldwide. Contributions will support the following charities: Tibetan Children's Village and Tsoknyi Humanitarian Foundation: Supporting the Nuns of Tsoknyi Rinpoche.
