I am joining from south Korea.
I have been feeling down and sad. Trying to understand where this depession and negative emotions come from.
Hi Irene!
I’m not a psychologist, just an interested layperson, but Prof. Gordon Emmerson describes personality parts as “resources” (in “Resource Therapy”, developed from Ego State Therapy). He says that depression can be caused by resources vaded with disappointment. I’ve found this very helpful, maybe it can help you, too?
Maybe you can think of something that has disappointed to you recently? Or a general disappointment with the way your life goes?
I’ve been using this myself and find that sometimes, it can be even small things that another part of me would say “oh, this is not important, I don’t really care about it”, that can put me in an unhappy mood. And this has helped me become more aware of my feelings and why I might be feeling like this.
(Though one should not forget that a depressed mood that seems unrelated to anything might also be caused by the female hormone cycle. Some women experience mood changes around their menstruation.)
Thank you very very much. I ‘ll treasure all your teachings

So good that this summit is taking place. The world and its people are all suffering. Even when not directly exposed to areas of turmoil one feels the suffering on the globe. I’m hopeful that this summit will bring relief to many. Many thanks.

This is Tenzin Metok from Germany. Thank you for the stories about His Holiness, especially the vistit to the hospital. It moved me to tears.
Also: your stories all of a sudden helped me to understand something about my past and my own dealing with emotions. At a certain age (something around 5 years old) for quite some time I had the feeling that my emotions had not received the attention that I had epected to receive from my parents. And then, for a long time in my life I was insisting/grasping to certain emotions. When you talked, it occured to me that this was areaction to the assumed missing attention at the early age. Understanding this, it is much easier to let go. THANK YOU.
Greatful from Colombia
